I can’t believe it’s already the end of 2016! It’s always surreal and exciting to jump into a new year. Just less than two weeks ago, I finally crawled out of my End of Semester writing hole that I had wormed my way into and very quickly found myself heading to Singapore for a holiday in time for Christmas! It’s been three years since the last time I was back in town for Christmas, and I have to say that this year’s decorations in Singapore are absolutely gorgeous!

One of the Christmas spots on my list was Christmas Wonderland at Gardens by the Bay. I was a little unsure of the s$8 admission price but seeing all the light sculptures made by Italian craftsmen was worth it! This event was apparently free the last two years but I heard that the queues were insane. When I went, the crowd was pretty manageable and I managed to get many colorful snaps!

The admission price doesn’t cover other attractions in the Christmas Wonderland which you must pay for separately, like the Ice Palace. I didn’t join in, but the exterior alone is gorgeous enough for me! ;)

The Spalliera is the centerpiece of the event and it’s very very impressive. Other fun stuff also happens there, including the Garden Rhapsody and Blizzard Time. Garden Rhapsody is a 5-minute (or so) Christmassy light and music show (with the lights of Spalliera turned off for a little while!) and Blizzard Time has fake snow (actually soapy foam) projecting outwards onto everyone. Really fun to see everyone whipping out their phones for a photo!

More light sculptures to see after exiting the event, although that resulted in a longer walk back to Bayfront MRT….
